This training focuses on implementing the targeted behavioral intervention known as Check-In/Check-Out (abbreviated as CICO).
CICO is designed for students who demonstrate persistent contextually inappropriate (“unwanted”) behavior. They are students who need more practice and feedback to follow schoolwide behavioral expectations and benefit from preventative classroom management practices. This training guides staff on how to use the CICO process effectively. This intervention includes daily check-ins with a mentor/facilitator at the start of the day to remind the student of the schoolwide behavior expectations, monitoring progress throughout the day, and checking out at the end of the day to review performance. The training emphasizes data-driven decision-making, building positive adult-student relationships, and using feedback to reinforce desired behaviors, aiming to improve student behavior and academic engagement.
