Join us for a two-day professional learning institute focused on how reading develops—from foundational skills to deep meaning making—for all learners.


Elementary & Secondary Strands


Sessions are tailored by grade span, with a dedicated focus in secondary on supporting older readers who are still developing foundational reading skills, alongside comprehension and content-area literacy.


Day 1: Foundational Skills

Build knowledge and strategies to support decoding and fluency—ensuring students can accurately and automatically read words.


Day 2: Language Comprehension


Strengthen approaches to vocabulary, background knowledge, and meaning making to support deep understanding of complex texts.





Goals/Outcomes


Participants will:


Deepen understanding of how reading develops across grade levels


Strengthen instruction in both word recognition and language comprehension


Learn practical strategies to support diverse learners, including multilingual learners

Additionally, candidates have the option of obtaining a Master's Degree in Education with an Educational Administration Emphasis through the University of Massachusetts Global (formerly Brandman) with an additional year of coursework.
