This 9-session professional learning series, designed for Kindergarten through 2nd-grade teachers, will focus on accelerating early literacy development through evidence-based instructional practices. Meeting once a month for two hours from August through May, participants will engage with research-backed strategies to strengthen foundational reading skills.
The series will incorporate content from the Getting Reading Right® modules by the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) and evidence-based practices from the California Collaborative for Learning Acceleration (CCLA), led by the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE). Additionally, participants will receive a copy of 7 Mighty Moves by Lindsey Kemeny, which will serve as a key resource throughout the series. Assigned chapters will be read in advance to deepen discussions and application of high-impact literacy strategies. Through this collaborative learning experience, educators will gain practical tools to enhance early literacy instruction, strengthen assessment practices, and support all students in becoming confident, proficient readers. PBIS District/Community Leadership Team (DCLT) workdays are four facilitated sessions held throughout the year, bringing together district and community partners to develop systems for implementing and sustaining Integrated PBIS district-wide. These workdays provide essential annual support for districts actively implementing and expanding I-PBIS by strengthening capacity, analyzing data, identifying gaps and needs, and aligning social-emotional-behavioral supports with district priorities. Participants will review the PBIS Implementation Blueprint and complete the District Systems Fidelity Inventory (DSFI) to develop an action plan for PBIS installation or improvement. Additional sessions will focus on data-driven decision-making, including assessing gaps, identifying needs, and selecting evidence-based practices. Teams will also create a district PBIS evaluation plan to monitor outcome and fidelity data effectively.
*Districts in their first two years of I-PBIS implementation or those transitioning to TFI 3.0 are strongly encouraged to form a DCLT and participate. Join us to strengthen your leadership team, enhance implementation efforts, and ensure the long-term impact of PBIS in your district!
