![]() This training is for Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) who have successfully completed AAC Foundations. This training is designed to build the knowledge and skill of SLPs so that they can effectively guide student teams in selecting appropriate tools and strategies and develop effective implementation plans for students with complex communication needs. This course is designed with a sequence of eight virtual (3 hour) training sessions. In between training sessions, participants will meet virtually with AAC coaches to review practical activities and assignments in order to receive feedback and support. Following completion of coursework, participants will be expected to plan for and complete (with coaching support) two AAC Needs Assessments, using scaffolds and tools provided in the training. Father Figures Are Invited-Please join us for the Virtual Father Literacy Project meeting for the project is being held virtually via zoom and will be presented by Steven Bruce, PCOE Early Childhood Specialist and Daniel Mendoza, Site Supervisor.
Father’s (father figures) play a critical role in their child’s early literacy development through reading books with their child, engaging in conversation, and sharing stories. Fathers, please join us on January 27th from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm as we learn about the importance of early literacy and gain strategies on how to get your child excited about books! These trainings will be held virtually via Zoom and will be presented by Steven Bruce, PCOE | ECE Early Childhood Specialist.
All participants will receive free children’s books and early literacy materials. Simultaneous Spanish interpretation provided.
Participants will receive free books to read to their children.

Course Description: Mental Health First Aid is an interactive 8-hour course that presents an overview of mental illness and disorders in the United States. Participants will learn about risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, as well as understand their impact and common treatments. Participants who certify as Mental Health First Aiders learn a 5-step action plan encompassing the skills, resources and knowledge to help an individual in crisis connect with appropriate professional, peer, social, and self- help care. THIS TRAINING IS RECOMMENDED FOR: Sheriff Departments, State Police, Corrections Officer and Local Law Enforcement, State and Local Policy Makers, School Personnel and Educators, Employers and Business Leaders, Support Staff, Nursing Home Staff, Emergency Response Personnel, Faith Community Members and Volunteers. Registration is required and participants must complete either both days or one to earn their certificate(some classes are taught over 2 days 4 hours each day). Please do not sign up for a date session that you can not fully commit to. The Placer County Office of Education, in a unique collaboration with Placer County Health and Human Services, Roseville Joint Union High School District,and the Latino Leadership Council, are working to improve mental health outcomes for individuals, families and our community. Through two three-hour guided interactive trainings of SIRAS, district trainers will learn about this comprehensive web based program that provides online management of student IEP and CALPADS data. The training will give designated staff members from each district the knowledge they need to train and support their districts in the use of SIRAS. The training will provide an in-depth experience navigating the online system, using the features that are available within the system, and processing student IEPs from start to finish. An optional three-hour Q&A session will be offered after the conclusion of the six hours of training. Attendees will be expected to train and support individuals within their districts as Placer County transitions to SIRAS on July 1, 2021. This training is limited to 50 participants; therefore districts must identify the specific people who will have this training role.
