NGSS Paper Screening (applicable for K-12 but with a K-5 focus)

The paper screening process gives educators an opportunity to examine instructional materials thoroughly prior to deciding which materials to pilot. An essential component of this process is engaging in a shared professional learning experience in order to calibrate using the resources and rubrics. After going through this professional development, participants will be equipped repeat the process to on their own with curriculum they identify as a possible adoption choice. This professional development should be attended by not only the selection committee but by all teachers who will be a part of the pilot process.

How do you know if your assessments are legally defensible? The first part of this training will focus on best practices for speech-language pathologists as they conduct assessments for students with possible speech or language disorders, including information for assessing culturally and linguistically diverse students. The second part of this training will focus on legal updates for speech-language pathologists. Cases from the Office of Administrative Hearings that focus on the practices of speech-language pathologists will be reviewed. Implications for speech-language pathologists based on court decisions will be discussed.
