Father Figures Are Invited - Please join us for the Virtual Father Literacy Project meeting for the project is being held virtually via zoom and will be presented by Steven Bruce, PCOE Early Childhood Specialist and Daniel Mendoza, Site Supervisor. Father’s (father figures) play a critical role in their child’s early literacy development through reading books with their child, engaging in conversation, and sharing stories. Fathers, please join us from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm as we learn about the importance of early literacy and gain strategies on how to get your child excited about books! Prevent-Teach-Reinforce (PTR) Training consists of four days of team training with coaching and provides Student Centered Teams a process for identifying students needing Tier 3 individualized supports, assessing students’ strengths and needs, and developing a team based plan involving Prevention, Teaching, and Reinforcement strategies. PTR works best with elementary schools, or schools where students have 1-2 teachers throughout the day. Tier 2/Intervention Team attends training day 1, Student Centered Team attends days 2-4. Speech Series - Assessment of Dual Language Learners - Two Part Training
 
This two-part training will provide participants with a guided overview of the best practice guidelines for assessing culturally and linguistically diverse students as conducted by Diagnostic Center-Northern California. The framework was developed to address the disproportionate number of culturally and linguistically diverse students being over-and under-identified for speech-language services.

Participants will:
•Become familiar with best practice guidelines for designing and conducting an unbiased language and communication assessment
• Become familiar with the DCN framework to conduct language and communication assessments. Participants will receive copies of the forms used at the center to guide future assessments.
• Become familiar with additional resources to support and inform assessments of Dual Language Learners

English Learner Series - Writing IEPs
 
This second part of the EL Series will focus on writing IEPs for students designated as English Learners, including linguistically appropriate goals and the assessment and support page of the IEP. Attendees will have opportunities to practice writing these sections of the IEP in SIRAS to ensure compliance with special education codes and a full understanding of the supports in SIRAS for EL students. PBIS Tier 2 training consists of four days of team training and will guide teams in addressing the needs of students requiring higher levels of support. Teams will learn to identify student needs, develop and implement Tier 2 interventions for students, including both Check In Check Out and the Strong Kids Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program. Teams will also learn how to evaluate both the fidelity and outcomes of interventions and develop the foundations of a strong intervention data team. A representative team from the school site attends the training, and then leads Tier 2 implementation. Readiness recommendation: Completion of PBIS Tier 1 Training, or Tier 1 TFI score of 50% or higher. Cost: Participating schools must be in contract with PCOE. Please see PCOE contract for details.
